While most home purchasers at the Summerfields West 55+ community in Williamstown are quick to cite the easy-living home designs, serene location and unparalleled affordability as keys to their home buying decision, the impetus for Mae and Wes Whittington’s infatuation with the friendly neighborhood extend well beyond those well-documented advantages.
Indeed, after visiting other active adult communities in the area, they found Summerfields West the clear choice not only as a place to live, but a place to love. “Of course, we were enamored with the house, the quiet setting and the friendly neighborhood atmosphere,” said Wes Whittington, who is employed in Philadelphia and went on to praise his mere 25-minute commute to work via the nearby Blackhorse Pike. “There was so much more,” he said. “Not only is it easy to get to work, but we can enjoy the entertainment, casinos, sports and cultural benefits of Philadelphia anytime we choose; even the Jersey Shore, for that matter. Not to mention, everything else we want and need, such as shopping, our church, doctors, hospitals and restaurants are just minutes away.”
But logistic favorability was only a “drop in the bucket” of lifestyle amenities that won the Whittington’s hearts. The couple had lived on four acres of property requiring upkeep and maintenance attention and time, both things of the past now thanks to Summerfields West’s property and street maintenance services provided to all homeowners. “What really captivated us about the property was the corner lot site we were hoping for and, as a ‘bonus,’ it backs up to woods and a pond – it feels much like our previous home did. We never thought we would be able to duplicate the privacy of our previous home, yet it happened right here at Summerfields West!” explained Mae.
For their home, the popular Wildflower design, Mae and Wes took full advantage of the many customization options available at Summerfields West. The couple enhanced the existing amenities of the 3-bedroom, 2-bath house—one of five models offered—by improving and personalizing their home with heated ceramic floors, raised ceilings to 9 feet, a larger fireplace, upgraded kitchen cabinets, French doors off the bedroom leading to a porch, custom lighting fixtures, a garage and complete custom interior painting. “It was amazing. I chose the designer paint we wanted and Charlie (the Construction Foreman) had his crew do an impeccable job throughout the house. It turned out nothing short of fabulous!” said Mae.
Of course, affordable pricing has served as the underpinning of the Summerfields West lifestyle since its inception. Like a growing number of homebuyers, Mae and Wes used it to help enable the customizations they wanted, while remaining on budget. “One of the great things about the homes at Summerfields West is that the lower base pricing leaves plenty of room to add the personal touches and everyday living enhancements that we did,” Wes explained.
At Summerfields West, the affable couple discovered some of the often overlooked components of the home buying process, as Wes concluded. “The homes and the community speak for themselves but the thoughtful people who work here made our purchase and the home personalization process easier than we could have imagined. Thank you, Charlie and Anne Marie (Sales Manager) for all of your efforts. No wonder everyone is so happy here!”
Summerfields West also provides homeowners with a community Recreation Center featuring a variety of activities, games, classes, movie nights and much more, including off-site excursions.
